The Badaling section of the Great Wall starts in a valley. From the entrance, you can either go left or right. The right direction is longer but not a steep. This is the more popular direction. I ended up climbing both directions and the right leg was very crowded.
This leg is about 2 kilometers to the highest point. The open portion of the wall continues on but most people turn around at this point.

OK, I know this is horrible, but I don't want to climb the wall when we go there. With my bad knee I just don't know if I'd be up to it. But the real truth is that it looks like a lot of hard work and I don't know if I really want to do it. Do you think I'll be kicking myself later if I just take pictures from the base? Was it really worth it or can I just wave to my husband as he makes the hike??
I'm such a wuss.
